Anc Manifesto Dobsonville

The African National Congress (ANC) held its 2019 Election Manifesto Review at Dobsonville Stadium, Soweto, on 3 September 2023. This event marked the launch of a comprehensive nationwide conversation focused on assessing the progress made and challenges faced regarding the implementation of the 2019 Elections Manifesto[2].

The ANC’s process, described as unprecedented in South Africa, involved deeply engaging with citizens to scrutinize the party’s performance on its key priorities[1]. According to ANC leaders, the review included transparent discussions about both achievements and shortcomings, such as slow progress in tackling corruption, crime, and unemployment. Community feedback was actively sought to inform the party’s strategy and policy moving forward[1].

The main priorities outlined in the 2019 Manifesto and subsequently reviewed at Dobsonville were:

  • Transform the Economy to Serve the People
  • Advance Social Transformation
  • Build Safer Communities
  • Fight Corruption and Promote Integrity
  • Strengthen Governance and Public Institutions
  • Build Unity and Embrace Diversity
  • A Better Africa and a Better World

President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the rally, highlighting progress under ANC stewardship since apartheid and emphasizing areas where weaknesses were identified and corrective actions are needed[1]. The event at Dobsonville thus served as both an assessment and a renewed commitment to the ANC’s vision as presented in its 2019 Manifesto.
