SWGC Dobsonville Campus is one of six campuses of South West Gauteng TVET College (SWGC), a public college under the Department of Higher Education and Training. The campus is at 5604 Van Onselen Road, Dobsonville, 1863, and its phone number is 010 141 4000. It mainly offers business programmes: NC(V) Business Studies, Report 191 N5 to N6 business diplomas, Popular Music N5 to N6, and occupational programmes for bookkeepers and marketing coordinators.
Applications are made online through SWGC, not at a separate Dobsonville college website. As checked on 13 September 2026, all application windows in SWGC’s published 2026 schedule have closed, and 2027 dates were not yet on the SWGC website.

Campus / Institution Overview
South West Gauteng TVET College describes itself as one of the biggest TVET colleges in South Africa by enrolment, with campuses and sites in Soweto, Randburg and Roodepoort, plus the “Land is Wealth” farm at Sterkfontein. Its six campuses are Dobsonville, George Tabor, Molapo, Roodepoort, Roodepoort West and Technisa.
People often call the campus “Dobsonville College” or “Dobsonville TVET College”. It is the same institution: the Dobsonville campus of SWGC. According to the 2026 SWGC prospectus, the campus also houses a 40-seat contact centre training facility, and SWGC’s central call centre uses the same Van Onselen Road address. The SWGC website lists Mr Tiisetso Sekobane as campus manager.

Courses, Programmes or Grades
The SWGC Prospectus 2026 lists the following programmes at Dobsonville Campus. Programme offerings can change with each intake, so confirm with the campus before you apply.
NC(V) Business Studies, Levels 2 to 4

Report 191 (NATED) N5 to N6

These are three-year National N Diploma programmes: 18 months of theory (N5 to N6) and 18 months of practical experience. Students register twice a year, in January and July.

The prospectus marks these learnerships as available at Dobsonville Campus: FETC Environmental Practice, NC Local Economic Development, NC Community Development and FETC Project Management.
Admissions & Entry Requirements
- NC(V): minimum of a successful Grade 9, a Grade 9, 10 or 11 year-end report, an NQF Level 1 qualification or ABET Level 4.
- Report 191 N5 to N6: National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 equivalent, N4, or NC(V) Level 4.
- Occupational programmes: NQF Level 4 or Grade 12 for the two Dobsonville programmes.
The 2026 prospectus says applicants with Grade 12 may apply only for Report 191 and some occupational programmes, while applicants who passed Grade 9, 10 or 11 qualify only for NC(V). It also says prospective students with Grade 12 will not be funded for NC(V) programmes. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee a place, and SWGC’s admission policy makes a selection and placement test compulsory for new students.
Report 191 (NATED) programmes are being phased out nationally. A Department of Higher Education and Training circular from October 2025, published on the SWGC website, sets last enrolment opportunities for each N-level and says no new students may enrol for N4 from January 2026. Ask the campus which Report 191 intakes are still open.
Applications
All applications go through SWGC’s online system. You choose Dobsonville as your campus during the application. SWGC asks applicants to complete its learner profiler first, and to have a working email address and cellphone number, a copy of their latest results and proof of residence ready to upload.
In SWGC’s 2026 application and registration schedule, applications for NC(V) and the first Business Studies semester ran from 1 September to 31 October 2025, and applications for the second Business Studies semester ran from 1 to 31 March 2026. SWGC states that it does not charge a fee to apply and has warned about people asking for money to help with applications.
Fees & Funding Information
- NSFAS: SWGC says most of its programmes are covered by the government bursary for students who qualify financially. NSFAS applications are made online at nsfas.org.za.
- Self-funded students: the 2026 prospectus lists a minimum first instalment at enrolment of R1,000 for NC(V), R500 for Report 191 (semester) and R330 for Report 191 (trimester). Payment is made into the college bank account; the college does not accept cash.
- Class fees: the SWGC website publishes 2025 class fee spreadsheets for Dobsonville NC(V) and Report 191 programmes. We did not find a 2026 or 2027 fee structure, so ask the campus for current fees.
SWGC’s NSFAS page uses older wording that non-NSFAS students pay 20% of the programme fee at registration. The 2026 prospectus figures above are more recent, but confirm the amount with the campus.

SWGC does not publish office hours for Dobsonville Campus on its website, so phone 010 141 4000 before you visit, particularly during registration periods and school holidays. The campus is on Van Onselen Road in Dobsonville; use the GPS coordinates above (-26.2234, 27.8672) in your map app. If you do not have internet access, SWGC says applicants can apply on campus.
