To apply to SWGC Dobsonville Campus (often called Dobsonville College), you apply online through South West Gauteng TVET College and select Dobsonville as your campus. There is no separate Dobsonville application form, and SWGC says it does not charge an application fee.
As checked on 13 September 2026, every application window in SWGC’s published 2026 schedule has closed, and SWGC had not yet published 2027 application dates on its website. This page explains who can apply, the documents you need and the step-by-step online process, so you are ready when the next window opens.

Current Application Status & Dates
SWGC publishes an application and registration schedule for each academic year. The latest one on its website is the 2026 Application, Selection, Admission and Registration Calendar, signed off by the Deputy Principal: Registrar and dated 27 October 2025. The rows below are the ones relevant to programmes offered at Dobsonville Campus. All of these windows are now closed.

The same schedule lists Engineering trimester intakes, but the 2026 prospectus does not list Engineering programmes at Dobsonville. We do not publish estimated 2027 dates. Check swgc.co.za regularly for the 2027 schedule, or call the campus.
NSFAS funding dates are separate
NSFAS runs its own application windows for TVET funding. Its circular on 2026 TVET application dates (1 December 2025) listed Semester 2 and the second occupational intake from 1 to 17 July 2026, and Trimester 3 from 3 to 14 September 2026. Applying to SWGC and applying to NSFAS are two different applications.
Who Can Apply
Your highest school result decides which programmes you can apply for. According to the SWGC 2026 prospectus:

Important rules from the prospectus and SWGC’s admission policy:
- Applicants with Grade 12 qualify only for Report 191 and some occupational programmes, and will not be funded for NC(V) programmes.
- Meeting the minimum requirement does not guarantee admission, and programmes continue only if enough students enrol.
- New students must write a selection and placement test.
- Foreign applicants need their certificates evaluated by SAQA and a valid study permit.
Documents You Need
Scan each document and save it as a PDF on your phone, computer or a memory stick before you start. SWGC asks for:
- A valid email address and a working cellphone number (all communication is sent by email or SMS)
- A certified copy of your latest school report, senior certificate or statement of results
- A certified copy of your ID document (or an affidavit and photograph if your ID or birth certificate is lost)
- Proof of residence
- For returning students: your previous academic record
- For foreign students: passport, study permit, SAQA evaluation of your qualifications and proof of medical cover
SWGC’s Student Admission Policy also lists placement test results, proof of NSFAS provisional funding or a payment arrangement, and a completed online registration form at the registration stage. If you are applying for NSFAS, SWGC lists your ID or birth certificate, latest results, proof of parents’ income if employed, death certificates if a parent is deceased, and a doctor’s certificate if you have a permanent disability.
How to Apply Step by Step
These steps follow SWGC’s online application and registration process guide. The system may look slightly different when the next window opens.
- Step 1: Complete the learner profiler. The prospectus says you must first complete the SWGC learner profiler, which helps match you to NC(V) career fields.
- Step 2: Open the portal. Go to swgc.co.za and click “Apply Online”, which opens the iEnabler student portal.
- Step 3: Start your application. Click “Application” at the top left and fill in your personal and contact details.
- Step 4: Upload documents. Click “View/upload documents”, upload your scanned files and save.
- Step 5: Choose your programme and campus. Select the faculty, choose Dobsonville as the campus and choose how you want to study. Set your academic preferences if you apply for more than one programme, then save and continue.
- Step 6: Submit. Click “Submit application”. SWGC says the application must be 100% complete before it is successfully submitted.
Common mistakes
- Using an email address or cellphone number you cannot access. To update these, contact the campus you applied to.
- Uploading unclear photos instead of scanned PDFs.
- Applying for a programme your school result does not qualify you for.
- Leaving the application incomplete. SWGC warns that incomplete applications may delay your application.

Apply only through SWGC’s own channels: the “Apply Online” button on swgc.co.za, which opens the iEnabler portal, and the online applications process page. SWGC has warned that people have misused its letterhead and online platforms, claiming applications were open and charging around R250 to help. The college says it does not require any applicant to pay a fee for the application process, and that applications are completed online by the applicant. If you do not have internet access, SWGC says you can apply on campus.
After You Apply
- Selection and admission: SWGC reviews applications and contacts applicants by SMS or email with the outcome and next steps.
- Registration: accepted students log in to the student portal with their student number and PIN, click “Registration”, accept the rules, select subjects, choose full-time or part-time study, accept the cost summary, then print, sign and upload the proof of registration.
- Payment: self-funded students pay a minimum first instalment when enrolling: R1,000 for NC(V), R500 for Report 191 (semester) and R330 for Report 191 (trimester), according to the 2026 prospectus. Payments go into the college bank account; cash is not accepted.
- Returning students: you can only register after results for the previous block are released on the system.
