Campus / Institution Overview

Forte Secondary School is an ordinary public secondary school. The DBE master list for Gauteng (2025 data) records it as quintile 4 and a no-fee school, with 2,274 learners and 66 educators in 2025. Its NSC examination centre number is 8251405.

According to EWN (14 January 2025), principal Mukosi Mudavhi has led the school since 2011. He credited discipline and committed subject teachers for the class of 2024’s 100% pass, and spoke about challenges in the community, including crime and substance abuse, which the school tackles with SAPS and partners.

In 2024 the SAME Foundation completed a STEM project at the school. It set up two new networked computer centres and renovated and equipped three science laboratories for Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Natural Sciences, with teacher training and three years of technical support.

We did not find an official school website. A Facebook page called Forte Secondary School Dobsonville exists, but we could not confirm it is run by the school, so treat information there with care. Some directories list a different phone number (010 023 3112). If you cannot get through, visit the school office or contact the GDE.

Courses, Programmes or Grades

As a secondary school, Forte teaches Grade 8 to Grade 12 and prepares learners for the National Senior Certificate (NSC). Grades 8 and 9 follow the Senior Phase curriculum, and in Grade 10 learners choose their FET subjects.

The school does not publish its subject list online. If a subject such as Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Accounting or Information Technology matters for your child’s plans, ask the school which subjects and combinations it offers in Grade 10 before you accept a place. The computer centres and science laboratories added in 2024 support STEM subjects.

Admissions & Entry Requirements

Applications

For 2027, Grade 8 online applications ran from 5 August to 4 September 2026. The GDE admissions calendar shows placement offers from October and lists late applications from 4 December 2026 to 31 January 2027, only at schools that still have space. A Sowetan report on 28 July 2026 said late applications would not be accepted, so check with the GDE before relying on the late window.
