On 21 June 2026, Soweto Urban reported that residents turned out at Thathezakho Primary School in Dobsonville on the final voter registration weekend before the local government elections. Residents named service delivery, water and electricity supply, and jobs as their main concerns.

On 9 July 2026, Sowetan reported that foreign-owned spaza shops in Dobsonville had reopened after owners fled during anti-illegal-migrant marches in parts of Soweto.

On 6 August 2026, Sowetan reported that the High Court in Johannesburg sentenced two men to long jail terms, including life imprisonment, for the murder of Dobsonville doctor Michael Isabelle during a robbery at his practice on 26 February 2024.
