SASSA has a Dobsonville local office. The South African Social Security Agency’s own list of service offices includes Dobsonville under the City of Johannesburg, alongside Soweto, Orlando West, Chiawelo and Roodepoort. SASSA does not publish a street address, phone number or hours for individual offices, so for official help use the SASSA toll-free line, 0800 60 10 11, or [email protected].
Online directories place the Dobsonville office on Luthuli Street, but give different phone numbers, and we could not confirm them with SASSA. Some services, such as the COVID-19 SRD grant, are handled online without visiting an office. Details were checked on 13 September 2026.

Address, Map & Directions
SASSA’s service offices list names the Dobsonville office and links it to City of Johannesburg ward 47 (ward ID 79800047), but gives no street address. Third-party grant and business directories say the office is on Luthuli Street, Dobsonville, 1863. Luthuli Street is Dobsonville’s civic street, with the City of Johannesburg Customer Service Centre and Dobsonville Library at the People’s Centre, 2332 Luthuli Street.
Before you travel, call 0800 60 10 11 and ask SASSA to confirm the Dobsonville office’s address and whether it is operating that day. If you are already on Luthuli Street, staff at the City’s customer service centre may be able to point you in the right direction.

Documents or Requirements
All SASSA applications are free. For a Child Support Grant, the government services page lists:
- Your 13-digit barcoded or smart ID, and the child’s birth certificate (an affidavit if these are not available)
- Proof of any maintenance you receive for the child
- Proof of earnings (for the means test)
- Marriage certificate, divorce order or custody order, where applicable
- Death certificate or missing person’s report if a parent has died or is missing
General eligibility (from sassa.gov.za)
- Older Person’s Grant: South African citizen, permanent resident or refugee living in South Africa, aged 60 or older, passing the means test, with a 13-digit ID.
- Child Support Grant: the primary caregiver of the child, a citizen, permanent resident or refugee, and passing the means test.
- SRD grant: aged 18 to 60, living in South Africa, not receiving another grant for yourself, and passing the means test. Some permit holders and asylum seekers with valid permits also qualify.

On 13 September 2026 we checked SASSA’s service offices list (which includes Dobsonville), SASSA’s head office and regional contacts page, the grant requirement pages on sassa.gov.za, and the government services page for the Child Support Grant. A page titled “SASSA Dobsonville Local Office 2024” that previously appeared on sassa.gov.za now returns a “page not found” error, so we could not read what it said.
