Choose where to go based on what you need:

Private GP: quicker consultations, scripts, sick notes, chronic check-ups. You pay per visit or use medical aid.
Private walk-in clinic: no booking, published cash prices (CareKahle), medicine included.
Public clinic: free for most patients. Best for immunisation, family planning, HIV and TB care and chronic medication, but expect queues.
Hospital emergency unit: serious injury, chest pain, breathing problems or anything life-threatening.

CareKahle Dobsonville is a private doctor-led walk-in clinic on the Upper Level of Dobsonville Mall. Mita Health Centre at Dobson Point (Shop 08A, Mohajane Drive, Dobsonville Ext 3) is listed in the centre directory on 011 931 0415. Its website gives Monday to Friday 09:00 to 18:00, and weekends and public holidays 09:00 to 14:00.

The City of Johannesburg lists two free public clinics: Itireleng Clinic (011 988 3101) and Nokuphila Clinic, 8 405 Sejoe Street, Ext 2 (011 988 7924). Public clinics are staffed mainly by nurses, who refer patients to a doctor when needed.

Some GPs, including Dr Fateye and Dr Mabaso according to the Wooltru 2025 network list, are dispensing practices that can supply medicine at the visit. Is the doctor consulting today, and until what time?
Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?
What is the consultation fee, and is medicine included?
Do you accept my medical aid, or do I pay and claim back?

Bring your ID or passport, medical aid card, a list of your medicines and allergies, and any referral letters or test results. For a public clinic, also bring your clinic card and your child’s Road to Health booklet.

You can check any doctor’s registration on the HPCSA iRegister by searching their surname. The status should read Active.
